Holiday Lights Across Florida

‘Tis the season for making holiday plans with family and friends! Between the dinner parties, gift exchanges, tree lightings and more, you won’t want to miss a night out to see holiday lights in your town. It’s a great way to get you in the holiday spirit and spark inspiration for dazzling decor. Not to mention, it’s an enjoyable activity suitable for all ages. Let us know where you venture to this holiday season to see those sparkling lights. If you need ideas of where to go, we’ve listed some below:

1. St. Augustine, Florida – “Nights of Lights”

In the historic city of St. Augustine you’ll find one of Florida’s legendary light displays. The event known as Nights of Lights uses over 3 million lights spread across roughly 20 city blocks in the downtown/old-town area.
What makes it special: the combination of Spanish-colonial architecture, pedestrian-friendly brick streets, and the twinkling white lights on buildings & trees gives it a magical, old-world holiday feel.
Tips:

  • Go early in the evening (just after dusk) for good light and fewer crowds.

  • Dress in layers—Florida evenings can be cooler than you expect.

  • Because it’s walkable and historic, plan for parking ahead of time or consider staying nearby.

2. Jacksonville, Florida – Neighborhoods & Arboretum Light Shows
Jacksonville offers a mix of residential marvels and formal garden/arboretum shows:
  • The neighborhood of Blackhawk Bluff (Girvin Road) is known for its big household displays; you can drive through with your car radio on for music + lights. Visit Jacksonville

  • The Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens hosts “Glowing Gardens,” a walk-through display with illuminated tunnels, themed figures, etc. The Florida Guidebook

  • For neighborhood visits: go earlier in the evening to avoid heavy traffic; be courteous to residents.

  • For the arboretum display: check ticketing in advance (often required) and bring comfortable walking shoes.

3. Orlando, Florida / Central Florida — Garden Lights, Lake Lights & More

Central Florida has a variety of ways to enjoy holiday lights:

  • At Harry P. Leu Gardens you’ll find the “Dazzling Nights” event: a million-plus lights, tunnels, hanging installations, music & live entertainment.

  • At Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando there’s a giant tree, swan boats, lit walkways and a fun city centre holiday vibe. Seminole County

  • At LEGOLAND Florida Resort you’ll find family-friendly “Holidays at LEGOLAND” light shows, interactive displays and a festive atmosphere for kids. Visit Central Florida

  • Garden and park events may require timed entry or ticket purchase in advance—check ahead.

  • Downtown locations can get crowded—arrive early or use rideshare.

  • For photo ops: look for reflections in lakes or the big tree at dusk for best lighting.

4. Largo, Florida / Tampa Bay Area – Park & Neighborhood Displays
In the Tampa Bay region you’ll find some great holiday-light stops:
  • In Largo’s Largo Central Park there is an event with 2+ million lights, a Ferris wheel, and decorations throughout the park. Smugglers Golf

  • At the Florida Botanical Gardens in Pinellas County, the “Holiday Lights” event features roughly 1 million LED lights, laser displays and illuminated figures.

  • For something a little different: the Holiday Lighted Boat Parade on the Hillsborough River in Tampa—boats decked out in lights cruising the water. Visit Deltona

Tips:

  • If going to the park – bring insect repellent (even at night).

  • Boat parade: pick a good waterfront vantage point early to get a good seat.

  • Neighborhood displays: drive slowly, be respectful of residents.

5. Naples, Florida & Southwest/Other Regions – Botanical Garden Lights
  • Their “Night Lights in the Garden” event features thousands of lights, tropical plant-themed trees (even a Christmas tree made of bromeliads) and a fun twist on holiday decor in Florida style. The Florida Guidebook

Final Tips for Your Holiday-Lights Tour
  • Best time to go: Soon after dark is ideal.

  • Traffic & parking: Some places close roads or limit parking—check websites ahead of time.

  • Weather & layers: Even in Florida, evenings can get cool—have a light jacket handy.

  • Respect neighborhood displays: Drive slowly, don’t block driveways, and always respect local residents.

  • Stay safe: If walking in dark areas, stick to lit paths and consider using sidewalks.

We hope you find an opportunity to explore holiday lights in your town this season! May the experience brighten your spirit and bring your loved ones together for a joyful holiday evening.
