Mr. Carter has over 14 years of experience in the insurance field, 11 of which as an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Florida. Mr. Carter spent the first 6 years of his legal career as a litigator defending public, private and governmental entities in civil litigation. During this time Mr. Carter successfully representing these clients in both federal and state courts with matters rising to the level of the Florida Supreme Court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Carter’s primary practice areas were professional liability, complex corporate litigation, multi-district and class action defense, labor and employment law and general insurance defense.
After departing an Am Law 100 firm, Mr. Carter led the legal department, as General Counsel, of a large multi-state Florida domestic property & casualty insurance carrier for more than four years. Mr. Carter then provided corporate legal counsel to an international re/insurer and now serves as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to a group of regulated entities, along with their affiliates, subsidiaries and service
